Be My Shepherd

Happy new year
its 2019!!
The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad;
    let the distant shores rejoice.
2 Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
    righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
3 Fire goes before him
    and consumes his foes on every side.
4 His lightning lights up the world;
    the earth sees and trembles.
5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
    before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all peoples see his glory.(Psalm 97)
The lord has been gracious to us.He reigns in majesty,He has deemed it fit for us to be alive in 2019.It has pleased Him to preserve us this far.For what is man,that He is so mindful of him?and the son of man that He visits  Him?He has made him little lower than the angels and have crowned Him with glory and honor(Psalm 84).Blessed be the name of the living God.He values us as his own children,we are the apple of His eye,We are precious and honored in His sight.Glory to the most High God.

Iam glad that the lord has kept you and me this far.It gives me pleasure to know that you are always eager to pass by this blog.This platform where i share my thoughts as well and extol the lord.I pray that this relationship grows day by day.
It is a new dawn for all of us.Its the third week of January 2019,we are almost exiting January!How fast its been!Im sure as young as the year is,many of us have had resolutions,most believers call them prophetic expectations.Dont you even be bothered on the name,whatever you choose to call them,im sure there are things or issues you are trusting God for.To some,its marriage,career,business,and many more depending on individuals.I as well have what ive put down trusting God who is the founder and finisher of my faith to carry me through.

As i was reflecting on the goodness of the lord,i found something that awed me like never before.When the bible says that many are the plans of the man,bun only the lords purpose will prevail(prov 19;21).What exactly does He refer to?What else does it mean when the bible tells us to commit our ways to the lord,and our plans will be established(prov 16;3)?Im left wondering,so who should plan?who should come up with that proposal?where is the lord coming in in our resolutions or do we just sit preety and allow the lord to plan for us and estalish the same plans?

The lord has given us a brain,opportunities,talents,gifts and so much,but what happens when some people advance more than the others?what exactly was the strategy they laid down?what was behind their progress or success?What caused the failure or the downfall?Well,we are not in a competition,and as the millenials would say,each one is to stick to their own lanes.Perhaps you are yet to crossover to 2019 because of the pain and the bruises you got last year.You do not actually understand what the celebration of a new year is all about.The lord is telling you to forget the former things because He is doing a new thing(isaih 43;19).
It is also prudent to acknowledge that the race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.(Eccle 9;11)Time and chance is free to all of us,may the lord help you to number your days,that you will gain a heart of wisdom.The wisdom to be diligent and do all that the lord expects of you.

In your 2019 resolutions.Have you left room for the lord to guide you?Who is your shepherd this year?When i think about a shepherd,this is someone who is taking charge over the sheep.What does the lord say concerning us as the sheep of His flock?
'I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd'(john 10;11-16)
This verse opened my eyes on who the lord is to us.He is to us the good shepherd.Hes laid down his life for us..He knows our voice,but how many of us know His voice?If truly you have not made the lord Ur shepherd,will you hear him this year?Are you part of this sheep that are not of His pen?

He continues in  psalm 23 to explain to us of how he is careful with us.Him being our shepherd this year,we shall not lack.we are guaranteed of being led beside cool waters,where we are so sure of not drowning...we are assured of safety in 2019 if at all we make the lord our shepherd.Restoration is our portion this year,yes we may walk in the valleys,we might fight so many battles this year,but the lord being our shepherd,our victory is guaranteed!Goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of ourlives..Who of us wouldnot want to experience goodness?That in instances whereby we ought to be punished,mercy will be extended to us...what a good thing!But the question is,Have you made the lord your shepherd?Have you allowed the lord to shepherd you in your career this year?Have you allowed the lord to shepherd your marriage this year?Till when will you continue leaning on your own understanding?

It is my prayer that we will allow the lord to be our shepherd in 2019.We may have neglected Him either out of ignorance or negligence.How i pray that we shall surrender to the authority of the lord this year.This shepherd who is not a hired hand...This shepherd who knows our lives from the end to the beginning.This shepherd who is assuring us of His presence in our lives,every other minute.
It is very simple,to surrender to Jesus and allow Him to be your shepherd.

 Life is a journey;truly it is.Its been long since we met along these streets.Im sure majority of you wondered what happened?Many raised concerns but i must say i truly appreciate your concerns,feedback and the many of you who pushed me to come back.Well lets thank God who has continually watched over each one of us as well as given us the grace to carry on through life amidst Covid 19.We all have reasons to appreciate having being allowed through the gates of 2021.Aint God gracious?
