WHAT ARE YOUR MOTIVES?

Many a times we tend to take seize an opportunity that comes our way not knowing that choices have consequences.Am amazed to note that this is not only common to us but was also a common thing even in biblical times.Opportunists can be ordinary people as well as kings and queens.Abimelech the king of Gerar was one opportunist.The bible reckons very well that when  Abimelech saw Sarah(Abraham's wife)He sent for her and took her.He wanted to take advantage of her and took her with him.All this time,he thought Sarah was Abraham's sister.Verse 3 in Genesis 20 says that God came to Abimelech in a dream and cautioned him of what he had done.What amazes me most is in verse five.Abimelech told the Lord that his motive of taking Sarah was very clean.The lord responds to him and tells him that He as God knew that as well and that's why he kept him from having sex with him.(vrs 6).
This word has ministered so much to my heart and iam as well challenged.Can the lord find you worthy of being preserved of him?It pleased God to preserve Sarah.Its true Abimelech had taken her but still the lord never allowed the enemy(abimelech )to harm her.The lord had already stricken Abimelech and his family with barrenness for daring A prophet of Gods wife.This tells me that God can fight for you if only you are found blameless in His sight.
Abimelech was also preserved on the basis of having a clear conscience/motive(vrs 5).It is out of his motives that the lord never allowed him to sleep with Sarah.What are your motives?Can your motives pave way for your blessings?can your motive push God to harm and dismantle your enemies?May the lord help us to live right with him as well as have clean motives in everything we do.I pray that our motives will awaken things in the spiritual realm just because we shall be found right with God.
